We plan to open an online chat room for our San Diego Group on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm to see if this is something you would like. You are free to ask questions or maybe answer someone else’s or just bring insights. This will give us another way to connect. If you haven’t been able to make our real world meetings this would give you a chance to conveniently come and ask questions about the latest going on with our community without leaving your home. There is no cost for any of this.

1. You will see a globe spinning with a little yellow bug in it. That is us but first you need to sign in. Click on Login/signup button top right corner of the page and fill out the sign up page. If you filled it out correctly, click on the “sign up” button at the bottom and you will be able to join the chat. If you didn’t fill it out correctly the sign up button won’t activate so go back and check your information in the boxes at the top of the page. The red fill in boxes should all turn green if you filled them our correctly.

2. Look for a little yellow bug in the spinning globe which when you mouse over it, will say MikeSup or Barneyfife, then click on the yellow bug to join our chat.

Make sure your firewall is off, if you are not seeing the Beetle Med page with the globe spinning. That has been a problem for some people. Mike is a native Californian who grew up surfing in San Diego. However, when his initial A.S. symptoms developed during high school, it forced him to change interests and refocus on racing and cars. Mike graduated Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, and became an Ophthalmologist, establishing his own practice. His principal activity, other than work, revolved around sports cars and time trialing. Mike is an authority on both Porsche and Ferrari history and has owned examples from both manufacturers.

Mike retired in 2001 and started the San Diego Spondylitis Educational Support in 2003. In 2005, Mike came onto the SAA Board of Directors. Currently Mike is co-chair of the Governance Committee, which is focused on recruiting national representation for SAA. He also assists in organizational development and expansion of the SAA support group network.

Mike lives with his wife Cheryl live in Carlsbad, California near his beloved Pacific Ocean. They have five grown children all away from home. Other house occupants include a Boxer, Greyhound and four cats including a Bengal.
